LG’s latest smartphone is one behemoth of a device, and this doesn’t necessarily refer to its size. What makes the LG V40 ThinQ standout is the fact that it contains five cameras. And rightly so, since it’s the first of its kind.
Earlier today, LG unveiled the LG V40 ThinQ and gave the public a look at the specs and features included in the device. In addition to this, LG announced the price and release date of the LG V40 ThinQ across the different wireless carriers that will be carrying the device.
Judging by its name, you would instantly assume that the LG V40 ThinQ is a successor to the previous iteration, the LG V30. But after looking at their specs, you’d come to realize that the V40 ThinQ is actually much closer to the LG G7. The difference, however, is that LG has upgraded the screen, battery, and cameras of the newer smartphone model.
For starters, the V40 ThinQ is equipped with a 6.4-inch QHD+ OLED FullVision display. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor with 6GB of RAM. Storage-wise, there is an option to get this phone with either 64GB or 128GB. A microSD card slot is available for memory expansion of up to 2TB. The phone is equipped with NFC, a fingerprint scanner, rugged frame, and a 3300mAh Li-Po battery. Upon release, it runs Android 8.1 Oreo OS.
Turning over to the cameras of the V40 ThinQ is where things get interesting. As mentioned, the device comes with not two or three cameras, but five. To start with, the back of the device is home to three cameras: a 16-megapixel Super Wide sensor with f1.9 aperture. The two other rear-facing cameras include a 12-megapixel Standard sensor with f1.5 aperture and another 12-megapixel Telephoto sensor with f2.4 aperture. In front, there is an 8-megapixel Standard sensor with f1.9 aperture and a secondary 5-megapixel Wide sensor with f2.2 aperture.
So how much does a device with five cameras cost? Considering LG just announced this device today, there isn’t much discounts, deals, BOGOs, or freebies available yet. The price of the phone varies depending on the carrier:
Is the five camera thing an advantage or deal breaker for you?
